Deux enfants se sont noyés ce mardi 16 avril 2024, aux environs de 8 heures, dans la rivière Mubimbi, située dans le village de Kasunyu, groupement de Buzi, dans le territoire de Kalehe, au Sud-Kivu.
Selon les sources de la société civile qui nous ont rapporté l’incident, il s’agissait de deux petites filles qui se rendaient vendre du maïs aux pêcheurs de Kasunyu. Elles ont été emportées par la rivière lorsqu’elles tentaient de la traverser. Les corps des enfants demeurent toujours dans la rivière, qui est actuellement en crue.
« Nous sommes profondément attristés par la tragédie qui s’est produite aujourd’hui dans la rivière Mubimbi. Il s’agit de deux enfants qui se rendaient vendre du maïs. Nous appelons tous les parents et les acteurs de la protection civile à redoubler de vigilance pour la sécurité des enfants. Nous demandons également au gouvernement congolais de rechercher des partenaires pour le curage de la rivière, qui a déjà emporté des enfants, du bétail et de nombreux biens. Il est essentiel que tous ceux impliqués dans le curage agissent rapidement pour éviter de nouveaux drames », a déclaré la même source.
